We are fundraising for 15 weeks to help 15 street connected children from Uganda to go to school.
We are trying to raise £5,260 which is the equivalent of sending 15 children to school for one year.
WHO?
These children have all been on the streets, and although now back in a safe family home, they are unable to attend school as their families can’t afford the school fees.
Through our wonderful education sponsors and kind donations to our education fund, we are able to support many children to go to school. But unfortunately, there are 15 children who currently don’t have anyone to support their learning.
These children are desperate to get an education and have been through so much already. We don’t want to let these children down and for them to miss out on having a chance of a brighter future.
WHAT?
We are trying to raise £5,260 which is the equivalent of sending 15 children to school for one year. We have a long term commitment to supporting these children and so it is hoped that within this year we can look for sustainable ways to continue to support them going forward, such as:
- Empowering their families to gradually begin to pay their children's school fees, through our Business Training programme
- Seeking new Education Sponsors for these children to get an education
- Gaining more supporters for our Education Fund, which will help more children realise their dreams
WHY?
Children in Uganda were kept out of school the longest of any country in the world due to COVID-19. This means they have missed out on vital years of studying since they don’t have access to online learning opportunities.
The children we support at S.A.L.V.E. have already missed out on going to school because of living on the streets, so they are now at a double disadvantage.
Sadly, as a charity we are seeing a number of our existing supporters having to stop giving to us due to financial pressures. Children who have been on the streets have already been let down so much already and we don't want to let them further by having a gap in our funding for their education.
WHAT NEXT?
We have a further 41 children who are desperate to re-join school but currently we are not in a position to be able to help. So if we are able to surpass our £5,260 target thanks to your generosity, then we would also help as many of these children as we can to return to education.
Please help us however you can. Whether this is a one off donation to help us pay for their fees for now or a monthly donation to invest in children's education for the future.
We will be very grateful for whatever support you feel able to give to ensure that children who lived on the streets get the chance of a brighter future.
